Outlander fans offered exclusive look at final season with exciting behind the scenes jobs

Outlander fans have the chance to work on bringing the final ever season to life with filming scheduled to begin in Scotland this year.

Outlander is hiring creatives to work behind-the-scenes of the Scottish drama as it shoots the eighth and last series.

Screen Scotland is promoting the Outlander Training Programme which is in search of up to 20 trainees to help support the Starz drama that’s being filmed in Scotland in 2024.

From costumes and locations, to props, make-up and special effects, a number of paid roles for working on season eight are going to soon be available at the production base in Cumbernauld.

The job advert states trainees will be learning from some of the “finest technicians and creatives” in the industry and paid between £558.80 and £635 per week, depending on the role.

Successful applicants are going to have a fixed-term placement on the show and have real-life experience of life behind the cameras.

While no formal qualifications are required, applicants need to be a resident of Scotland, over 18 years old and have a basic understanding of the film and TV industry.

Candidates are to have no more than six months paid experience within the department they are applying to and a full clean UK driving license is preferable and essential in some roles.

The Outlander Training Programme, which is supported by Screen Scotland and ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills fund, has run across seven seasons of the time travel series and trained 170 people.

It was originally set up to give opportunities for new entrants to work on the largest long-running production in Scotland in recent years.

The deadline for applications is Monday, February 5, at 9pm, with interviews due to take place on the week commencing February 19.

Trainees are then expected to start working on the show from Monday, March 11.

Scenes were shot in Falkland Village in 2013 for season one and again in 2016 for the second series.

Some of the other locations used have been Kinloch Rannoch, Doune Castle, Culross and Hopetoun House.

This trainee programme begins as filming on the Outlander prequel drama Blood of My Blood is getting ready to set up in Glasgow.

Sadly, this will be the beginning of the end for Outlander as season eight has already been confirmed as the period drama’s final season.

But there is still more to look forward to with half of season seven yet to make its debut.

A start date hasn’t been announced, although series seven part two is expected to premiere sometime in early 2024 so there shouldn’t be too much longer to wait.

Outlander is available to watch on Starz.
