The Witcher Season 3 gives Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia a brand new outfit, with Netflix dropping the best look yet outside of the trailer.
Netflix recently released a still from The Witcher Season 3, offering audiences the best look yet at Geralt of Rivia’s new costume outside of the fast-paced teaser trailer.
Released by Netflix TUDUM, the still offers a look at star Henry Cavill donning what appears to be a light leather jerkin, with a black belt and, as usual, his sword strapped to his back. This armor differs significantly from the studded leather armor he was seen crafting and wearing toward the end of Season 2.
As mentioned, the costume was previously seen in the teaser trailer for Season 3, often muddied and obscured by the action sequences featured in the clip. At the current time, it is unknown when or how the witcher will acquire the new suit or whether or not there is another in the upcoming season.
Henry Cavill’s iteration of Geralt of Rivia has donned a variety of outfits, often black, throughout the series. His first costume was one of many in The Witcher that was heavily criticized. For Season 2, Cavill himself stated that he worked with costume designer Lucinda Wright to create the armor Geralt is seen wearing, explaining prior to Season 2’s release, “It’s a new look, and the redesign has made it a lot easier for me to move and fight.”
Henry Cavill’s Final Appearance in The Witcher
It is currently unknown if Geralt of Rivia’s look in Season 3 will carry over into future seasons of Netflix’s The Witcher, in which the monster slayer will be played by Liam Hemsworth. Cavill’s exit from the show was announced in October 2022, along with confirmation that Season 4 was in the works. At the time of writing, no official explanation has been provided regarding Cavill’s departure, though unconfirmed reports suggest his exit was related to creative differences with the Netflix series’ producers.
Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich recently touched on the actor’s exit, stating, “It was time for him in his life to move on. I think we’ve all been mourning this in our own way.” Regarding the options the show was left with, she added, “We had the choice to have Geralt exit and to end the show. [But] that’s not something that we were willing to do. There’s just too many stories left to tell.”
The Witcher Season 3 will release in two volumes. Volume 1 is set to premiere on June 29 and Volume 2 will release on July 27. Only on Netflix.
